In a first for American democracy, two candidates who won more votes counted at one part of the day but fewer votes overall had the election stolen from them. Why the corrupt election officials did not just stop counting votes altogether around 8pm will go down as one of the great political scandals in US history. It was also not clear at publication time why they could not just find more Republican votes hidden in the couch or something.
